A hearty and comforting chili brimming with ground beef, beans, and a blend of spices, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (preferably chuck)
- 2 cans canned beans (kidney and black beans)
- 1 can diced tomatoes (with juice)
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 bell pepper (diced)
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- A pinch of cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Optional toppings: sour cream, shredded cheese, green onions
Instructions
- Heat a splash of oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add 1 pound of ground beef, cooking until browned.
- Stir in chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced bell pepper, cooking until vegetables soften (about 5 minutes).
- Add drained and rinsed beans, diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, and cayenne. Season with salt and pepper; bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for at least 20 minutes.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed before serving.
Notes
Chili tastes better the next day and can easily be frozen for later meals.
