Description

A hearty and comforting chili brimming with ground beef, beans, and a blend of spices, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (preferably chuck)
  • 2 cans canned beans (kidney and black beans)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (with juice)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • A pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, shredded cheese, green onions


Instructions

  1. Heat a splash of oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add 1 pound of ground beef, cooking until browned.
  3. Stir in chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced bell pepper, cooking until vegetables soften (about 5 minutes).
  4. Add drained and rinsed beans, diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, and cayenne. Season with salt and pepper; bring to a simmer.
  5. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for at least 20 minutes.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed before serving.

Notes

Chili tastes better the next day and can easily be frozen for later meals.
