Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, browned
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, brown the butter over medium heat until it develops a nutty aroma and a golden color. Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually incorporate this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined—don’t overmix!
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about two inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a chewier cookie, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
