Description
A festive cheesy bread shaped like a Christmas tree, perfect for holiday gatherings and sharing.
Ingredients
- 13 ounces canned refrigerator pizza dough
- Parchment paper (for lining baking sheet)
- 6-7 mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1 large egg (+ 1 tablespoon water for egg wash)
- 3 tablespoons butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese (divided)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (finely chopped)
- 1/2 tablespoon fresh rosemary (finely chopped)
- 1/2 tablespoon fresh basil (finely chopped)
- 1 clove garlic (grated)
- 1 jar marinara and/or pesto (for dipping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut the dough into approximately 30 equal squares, then slice the mozzarella cheese sticks into bite-sized (1-inch) pieces.
- Place a piece of mozzarella into each square of dough and roll it into a ball, ensuring the edges are sealed.
- Arrange the balls on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down, shaping them into a Christmas tree—make sure the balls are touching.
- In a small bowl, whisk the egg and water together, then lightly brush each dough ball with the egg wash.
- Bake for 16-18 minutes or until the bread is golden brown.
- While the bread is baking, melt the butter in the microwave. Combine it with half of the grated parmesan cheese, garlic, and herbs. Brush this mixture onto the rolls once they are out of the oven, and sprinkle with the remaining parmesan. Serve with marinara and/or pesto for dipping.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days, or freeze for one month. Reheat in the oven to restore fluffiness.
