Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, sliced thinly
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, heat a splash of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and ground beef, cooking until the beef is browned. Drain the excess fat.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk, stirring until smooth and creamy.
- In a greased casserole dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes. Spread the ground beef mixture over the potatoes and pour half of the soup mixture on top.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, ground beef, and soup mixture.
- Generously sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Serve warm and enjoy your hearty meal!
Notes
Feel free to substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option or use dairy-free cheese for a plant-based version.
