Ingredients
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1/3 cup hot pepper jelly
- Fresh thyme leaves or chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat together the cream cheese and butter until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Mix in the shredded cheddar cheese until fully combined.
- Add in the flour, salt, and optional garlic powder, mixing until a dough forms.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced about 2 inches apart.
- Use your thumb to press an indentation into the center of each ball.
- Fill each thumbprint with 1/2 tsp of hot pepper jelly.
- Bake for 13–15 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly, garnish with herbs if desired, and serve warm or at room temperature.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to a month.
