Description

Creamy cheese paired with the zesty pop of hot pepper jelly makes these thumbprint appetizers a delightful crowd-pleaser.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/3 cup hot pepper jelly
  • Fresh thyme leaves or chopped parsley for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat together the cream cheese and butter until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  2. Mix in the shredded cheddar cheese until fully combined.
  3. Add in the flour, salt, and optional garlic powder, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced about 2 inches apart.
  7. Use your thumb to press an indentation into the center of each ball.
  8. Fill each thumbprint with 1/2 tsp of hot pepper jelly.
  9. Bake for 13–15 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool slightly, garnish with herbs if desired, and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to a month.
