Description

Delightful Christmas cookies that are perfect for decorating with icing and sprinkles, creating festive designs for the holiday season.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • Decorative icing and sprinkles (to bring your creations to life)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter with white sugar, brown sugar, and salt until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place them on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten each ball gently with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until they turn a golden color.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack, then unleash your inner artist by decorating them with icing and sprinkles!

Notes

To keep cookies fresh, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Freeze well for up to three months if well-wrapped.
