Description

Delightful and whimsical cinnamon rolls shaped like a Christmas tree, perfect for festive gatherings and holiday breakfasts.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • Green food coloring (optional)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, blend together the milk, melted butter, and egg.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring until a dough begins to form.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured board for about five minutes, until it’s smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm area until it doubles in size, approximately one hour.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a rectangular shape.
  8. Spread melted butter over the surface of the dough, then sprinkle a mixture of cinnamon and brown sugar evenly on top.
  9. Tightly roll the dough from one end to the other, forming a log, and slice it into equal portions.
  10. Arrange the slices on a baking sheet in the shape of a Christmas tree.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they’re golden brown.
  12. To make the icing, mix powdered sugar with a bit of milk until you reach the desired consistency. Drizzle over the warm rolls.
  13. If desired, add green food coloring to the icing and toss on some sprinkles for a festive touch!

Notes

These cinnamon rolls are best enjoyed fresh. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for a couple of days or freeze for longer storage.
