A rich and moist red velvet cake topped with luscious cream cheese frosting, perfect for any celebration.
Ingredients
- 1 box Red Velvet Cake Mix
- 3/4 cup sour cream, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a bundt pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the Red Velvet Cake Mix, sour cream, vegetable oil, water, mayonnaise, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- For the frosting, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until creamy and smooth.
- Gradually add in the powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing until fluffy.
- Once the cake has cooled, drizzle or spread the cream cheese frosting over the top.
Notes
Serve with whipped cream or ice cream for an extra treat. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to five days, or freeze slices for longer storage.
