Description

A comforting dish featuring tender chicken breasts in a rich, creamy sauce with caramelized onions.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Once the onions are caramelized, remove them from the skillet.
  3. Add butter to the same skillet and melt. Cook the seasoned chicken breasts for about 6-7 minutes on each side until cooked through and golden brown.
  4. Return the caramelized onions to the skillet and pour in the heavy cream. Stir well to combine.
  5. Let the mixture simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Serve warm, garnished with fresh thyme or parsley.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute chicken breasts with thighs or use vegetable cream. Add mushrooms for an earthy flavor or a splash of balsamic vinegar for enhanced sweetness.
