Crispy Honey Garlic Tofu

Description

A delightful dish that combines crispy tofu with a sweet and tangy glaze, perfect for quick weeknight dinners or meal prep.

Ingredients

  • 400 grams firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 4 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a vegan alternative)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • Vegetable oil for frying (approximately 1 cup)

Instructions

  1. Drain the firm tofu and press it to remove excess moisture for about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into uniform bite-sized cubes.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil.
  4. Coat each tofu cube evenly in cornstarch.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry the tofu cubes until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Remove the tofu and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. In the same skillet, pour in the honey garlic sauce and simmer for about a minute.
  8. Carefully add the crispy tofu to the sauce and gently toss to coat.

Notes

Serve over steamed rice or quinoa and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
