Ingredients
- 10 cups sourdough or French bread, cubed
- 1 large onion, finely diced
- 2 cups celery, finely chopped (about 3-4 stalks)
- 2 tbsp fresh sage, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh thyme, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- 4 cups low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and chopped celery, cooking until soft and fragrant, about 5-7 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, sautéed onion and celery, and fresh herbs. Toss gently to mix.
- Pour in the broth, mixing until the bread is moist but not soggy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer the stuffing mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for about 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
Notes
You can prepare the stuffing a day in advance. Consider adding chopped apples or cranberries for a sweet twist.
