Description
A comforting weeknight meal featuring tender chicken and rice smothered in a creamy, garlicky cheese sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 tsp Onion powder
- 1 1/2 tsp Powdered garlic
- 1/4 tsp Thyme
- 1 tsp Smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp All purpose flour
- 2 1/2 cups Chicken broth
- 1 1/2 cups Whole milk
- 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
- Add the onion powder, powdered garlic, thyme, smoked paprika, and 1/2 tsp salt. Sauté for about a minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 30 seconds.
- Slowly pour in the chicken broth while whisking, then add the whole milk. Stir until thickened (around 4–6 minutes).
- Reduce heat to low and stir in cheddar and Parmesan until melted and smooth.
- Serve the creamy sauce spooned over hot cooked rice and chicken.
Notes
For gluten-free: substitute all-purpose flour with cornstarch mixed with cold water. For lower fat: use 2% milk and reduce cheddar to 1/3 cup.
