Ingredients

  • 1 cup cilantro, fresh leaves
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 jalapeño, seeds removed for milder heat
  • 2 limes, juice of
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 2 (15 oz.) cans tomatoes, fire-roasted
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 2 large pinches kosher salt
  • 1 large pinch freshly cracked pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cumin


Instructions

  1. Combine the cilantro, garlic, jalapeño, lime juice, red onion, fire-roasted tomatoes, cayenne pepper, kosher salt, pepper, and cumin in your blender.
  2. Blend until you reach your desired consistency—smooth or chunky, it’s your choice!
  3. Taste the salsa and adjust the seasoning as necessary; maybe a pinch more salt or a splash more lime for zing.
  4. Serve it up with crispy tortilla chips or use it as a zesty topping for tacos or grilled meats.

Notes

For added depth of flavor, char the jalapeño before blending. Fresh tomatoes can be used when in season for vibrant flavor.
