Description

A comforting garlic chicken parmesan dish with crispy chicken, marinara sauce, and melted cheese.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs (use panko for extra crunch)
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dip each chicken breast in the olive oil, ensuring it’s fully coated, then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Arrange the coated chicken breasts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper for easier cleanup.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes, checking that the chicken is cooked through (it should register 165°F internally).
  6. Once baked, remove the chicken from the oven and spread marinara sauce over each piece.
  7. Top decoratively with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  8. Return to the oven for another 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

For a crispier crust, consider adding some Italian seasoning to the breadcrumbs or swap out the marinara sauce for alfredo or pesto for a delightful twist.
