Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 cups breadcrumbs (use panko for extra crunch)
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each chicken breast in the olive oil, ensuring it’s fully coated, then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture.
- Arrange the coated chicken breasts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper for easier cleanup.
- Bake for 20 minutes, checking that the chicken is cooked through (it should register 165°F internally).
- Once baked, remove the chicken from the oven and spread marinara sauce over each piece.
- Top decoratively with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Return to the oven for another 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil if desired, and serve hot.
Notes
For a crispier crust, consider adding some Italian seasoning to the breadcrumbs or swap out the marinara sauce for alfredo or pesto for a delightful twist.
