Description
A warm loaf filled with the delicious flavors of garlic, herbs, and melted Parmesan, perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water (about 100-110°F)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon instant dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons dried rosemary
- 6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 2 to 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 tablespoon butter (split for topping)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the yeast, sugar, and warm water. Allow it to sit for about a minute until it becomes foamy.
- Stir in the salt, dried herbs, and finely chopped garlic until everything is well blended.
- Add 2 cups of flour and the grated Parmesan cheese to the bowl. Mix until you form a sticky dough.
- Gradually add more flour while mixing until the dough is soft and stretchy.
- Lightly oil a bowl and place your dough inside, covering it with a towel or plastic wrap. Allow it to rise for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet with olive oil.
- Gently punch down the dough, then divide it into two balls. Shape them into rounds and place them on the baking sheet.
- Cover loosely and let them rise again for an additional 15-20 minutes.
- Brush half a tablespoon of butter on top of each dough round before placing them in the oven.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes until the tops are golden and sound hollow when tapped underneath.
- Remove from the oven and transfer to a cooling rack. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving warm with butter or your favorite soup.
