Description
A crunchy, golden crust with a soft, cheesy center infused with bright garlic-herb flavors. Perfect for gatherings, dinners, or as a side to soups and salads.
Ingredients
- 1 medium artisan loaf or boule (about 1–1.5 lb)
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 3–4 large garlic cloves, minced
- 3/4 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and position a rack in the middle.
- In a bowl, mash the butter with olive oil. Stir in garlic, Parmesan, parsley, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Make diagonal cuts along the loaf about 1 inch apart, without slicing all the way through.
- Push garlic-parmesan butter into each cut and spread any remaining mixture on top.
- Wrap the bottom of the loaf in foil, place on a baking sheet, and bake for 12–18 minutes until the cheese is bubbly.
- For extra color, open the foil and broil on high for 1–2 minutes.
- Let rest for 2–3 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Use vegan butter and plant-based cheese for a dairy-free version. Adjust slicing and bake time if using a baguette.
