Ingredients

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, grated
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk until combined, cooking for about 1 minute.
  4. Gradually add the milk while continuing to whisk, ensuring the mixture is smooth.
  5. Stir in the cream cheese and allow it to melt into the sauce.
  6. Add the grated cheddar and Gruyère cheese, mixing until fully melted and creamy. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  7. Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked pasta and mix well.
  8. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
  9. In a small bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with a tablespoon of melted butter and sprinkle over the mac and cheese.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

Notes
