Description

Delicious homemade cinnamon rolls with a warm, aromatic filling, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt until well combined.
  2. Warm the milk and butter together until melted. Let it cool slightly before using.
  3. Pour the milk mixture and crack an egg into the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth.
  5. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  6. Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread soft butter over the surface and sprinkle with a mix of cinnamon and brown sugar.
  7. Roll the dough tightly, starting from one long edge, and slice into rolls.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. While the rolls are baking, prepare the frosting by beating the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  11. Once the rolls are done, spread the frosting on top while they’re still warm and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to make substitutions, such as using almond milk for a dairy-free version. For added flavor, consider incorporating nuts or fruits.
