Description
Delicious homemade cinnamon rolls with a warm, aromatic filling, perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
- 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cream cheese
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt until well combined.
- Warm the milk and butter together until melted. Let it cool slightly before using.
- Pour the milk mixture and crack an egg into the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth.
- Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread soft butter over the surface and sprinkle with a mix of cinnamon and brown sugar.
- Roll the dough tightly, starting from one long edge, and slice into rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the frosting by beating the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Once the rolls are done, spread the frosting on top while they’re still warm and enjoy!
Notes
Feel free to make substitutions, such as using almond milk for a dairy-free version. For added flavor, consider incorporating nuts or fruits.
