Description

Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (plus extra for greasing)
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional, for extra flavor)


Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, mix the warm water and sugar until the sugar dissolves. Sprinkle the yeast on top and stir gently. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and Italian seasoning (if using). Make a well in the center, pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until you have a rough dough.
  3. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic, or use a stand mixer for 5-7 minutes.
  4. First Rise: Grease a bowl with olive oil, place the dough inside, and cover. Let it rise in a warm area for 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the Dough: Punch down the risen dough, turn it out onto a floured surface, and divide it. Roll out or stretch to your desired thickness.
  6. Preheat the Oven: Set the oven to 475°F (245°C), placing a pizza stone inside if you have one.
  7. Assemble & Bake: Transfer the dough to a pizza peel or parchment-lined sheet, top with sauce, cheese, and toppings. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Serve & Enjoy: Let the pizza cool for a moment before slicing and serving.
