Description

A delightful twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak sandwich, this casserole is rich in protein and perfect for low-carb diets.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 fat ratio)
  • 1 large onion (diced)
  • 2 large bell peppers (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 8 oz provolone cheese (sliced)
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add diced onions and bell peppers to the hot oil, cooking for 5-6 minutes until they start to soften.
  4. Stir in minced garlic, cooking for another 30 seconds.
  5. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up as it cooks. Season with salt and pepper, cooking for 7-8 minutes until browned.
  6. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and add the softened cream cheese, stirring until melted.
  7. Transfer the mixture to your prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  8. Layer pieces of provolone cheese over the beef, then top with shredded mozzarella.
  9. Bake for 22-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

This casserole is adaptable; feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option and adjust veggies as desired.
