A cozy and comforting casserole that brings the beloved flavors of a classic burger into a warm, shareable dish, featuring savory ground beef, melty Swiss cheese, and earthy mushrooms.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 Onion (yellow onion or shallots)
  • 8 oz Mushrooms (crimini or button)
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1 cup Beef Broth (or chicken broth)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 6 oz Swiss Cheese (or cheddar, mozzarella)
  • 1 cup Sour Cream (or Greek yogurt)
  • 4 pieces Hamburger Buns (gluten-free optional)
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Parsley (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until fragrant and translucent.
  3. Add ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks, and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in the mushrooms and cook until soft.
  5. Mix in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. In a large bowl, combine the beef mixture with sour cream and half the Swiss cheese.
  7. Cut the hamburger buns into cubes and gently fold them into the mixture until evenly combined.
  8. Transfer everything into a greased casserole dish and top with the remaining Swiss cheese.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!

Notes

For maximum flavor, season ground beef with smoked paprika or cayenne. Prepare ahead for convenience. Don’t hesitate to add extra cheese!
