Old-Fashioned Chili


Description

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil


Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until soft and fragrant.
  3. Add the ground beef, browning it thoroughly.
  4. Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  5. Mix in kidney beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce.
  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 30 minutes.
  7. Serve hot with toppings of your choice.

Notes

For added flavor, sauté spices in olive oil before adding the meat. Let the chili sit overnight to enhance flavors.
