Description
A comforting casserole that combines the flavors of pizza with crispy tater tots, perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- Optional toppings: pepperoni, olives, bell pepper, green onions, mushrooms
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and diced onion; cook for 6–8 minutes until the meat is browned and the onion is soft.
- Drain any excess grease and return the skillet to low heat.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning; season with salt and pepper to taste, simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly across the bottom of the greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella over the beef layer.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella across the tater tots.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until the tater tots are golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- If using optional toppings, add them during the last 5 minutes of baking.
- Remove from oven and let sit for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Can use ground turkey or plant-based crumbles for a lighter option. Tweak toppings and sauces to suit your taste.
