Ingredients
- 1 loaf of bread (challah or brioche recommended)
- 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Butter (for greasing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
- Tear the loaf of bread into bite-sized pieces and put half of them in the baking dish.
- Sprinkle the blueberries over the bread pieces, then layer the remaining bread on top.
- In a bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and berries, ensuring every piece of bread is soaked.
- Cover with foil and allow it to sit for 30 minutes to an hour, or overnight in the refrigerator.
- Bake covered for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown and set.
