Description

A festive twist on a classic Sloppy Joe, these sliders feature a savory filling, soft sweet rolls, and adorable decorations perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey or beef
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons brown mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 12 pieces Kings Hawaiian Rolls, split as needed
  • Cherry tomatoes, cut in half for decoration
  • Black olives for decoration
  • White sliced cheese, cut into circles for decoration
  • Raisins, cut in half for pupils
  • Pretzel twists, broken for antlers

Instructions

  1. Preparation of the Filling: In a skillet, brown the ground meat over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Add the ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, brown mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Mix well and let simmer for about 10 minutes to blend the flavors.
  3. Assembling the Sliders: While the filling simmers, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the Kings Hawaiian Rolls and place the bottom halves on a baking sheet. Spoon the Sloppy Joe filling evenly over each roll, then cover with the top halves.
  4. Decorating the Sliders: Use cherry tomato halves for noses, black olives for the eyes, cheese circles for eye sockets, and raisin halves for pupils. Finally, arrange broken pretzel twists on top for antlers.

Notes

For a healthier option, swap ground beef for ground turkey or use lentils for a vegetarian twist.
