Description

A traditional roast turkey recipe perfect for family gatherings and holidays, bringing warmth and flavor to your table.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (12-14 pounds)
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups broth (chicken or turkey)
  • Fresh herbs (such as thyme, rosemary, parsley) for seasoning
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 3-4 carrots, chopped
  • 3-4 celery stalks, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub the olive oil or melted butter all over the turkey.
  4. Season generously with salt, pepper, and herbs, both outside and inside the cavity.
  5. Stuff the cavity with the quartered onion, halved lemon, and the chopped carrots and celery.
  6. Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan.
  7. Pour the broth into the bottom of the pan.
  8. Roast the turkey for about 13 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  9. Baste the turkey occasionally with the pan drippings.
  10. Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Let the turkey sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before roasting for even cooking. Consider brining it overnight for extra juiciness.
