Description

Quick and flavorful blackened tilapia tacos, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • Fresh tilapia fillets
  • Blackening spice blend (paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, etc.)
  • Olive oil (for searing)
  • Corn or flour tortillas
  • Shredded cabbage (for crunch)
  • Diced avocado (for creaminess)
  • Fresh cilantro (for garnish)
  • Lime wedges (to squeeze on top)

Instructions

  1. Start by mixing your blackening spice blend in a small bowl.
  2. Pat the tilapia fillets dry and coat them generously with the spice mix on both sides.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
  4. Once hot, place the tilapia in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side until it flakes easily and has a beautiful dark crust.
  5. While the fish is cooking, prepare your toppings: chop the cabbage, dice avocados, and cut lime wedges.
  6. Warm your tortillas in a separate pan or microwave.
  7. Once the tilapia is done, remove it from the heat and flake it into bite-sized pieces.
  8. Assemble your tacos by layering the tortillas with tilapia, cabbage, avocado, and cilantro. Squeeze some lime juice on top for that fresh twist.
  9. Serve immediately and relish the flavors.

Notes

For a beautiful presentation, stack the filled tacos on a serving platter with lime wedges.
