Description
Quick and flavorful blackened tilapia tacos, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
- Fresh tilapia fillets
- Blackening spice blend (paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, etc.)
- Olive oil (for searing)
- Corn or flour tortillas
- Shredded cabbage (for crunch)
- Diced avocado (for creaminess)
- Fresh cilantro (for garnish)
- Lime wedges (to squeeze on top)
Instructions
- Start by mixing your blackening spice blend in a small bowl.
- Pat the tilapia fillets dry and coat them generously with the spice mix on both sides.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
- Once hot, place the tilapia in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side until it flakes easily and has a beautiful dark crust.
- While the fish is cooking, prepare your toppings: chop the cabbage, dice avocados, and cut lime wedges.
- Warm your tortillas in a separate pan or microwave.
- Once the tilapia is done, remove it from the heat and flake it into bite-sized pieces.
- Assemble your tacos by layering the tortillas with tilapia, cabbage, avocado, and cilantro. Squeeze some lime juice on top for that fresh twist.
- Serve immediately and relish the flavors.
Notes
For a beautiful presentation, stack the filled tacos on a serving platter with lime wedges.
