Description

A delightful twist on traditional French toast using soft Hawaiian rolls, soaked in a rich custard and cooked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

  • 8 Hawaiian rolls
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Maple syrup, for serving
  • Powdered sugar, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon until well combined.
  2. Preheat your skillet over medium heat, adding a swirl of butter to melt.
  3. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half, then dip each half into the egg mixture, ensuring they’re well coated.
  4. Place the dipped halves onto the hot skillet, cooking for several minutes on each side until they turn a beautiful golden brown.
  5. Transfer them to a plate and serve warm with maple syrup and powdered sugar, if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or a splash of flavored cream to the egg mixture.
