Description
Transform your classic burger night with soft, freshly baked hamburger buns that elevate any meal to gourmet status.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup warm water
Instructions
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Add wet ingredients: Stir in warmed milk, water, and melted butter.
- Knead the dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
- Shape the buns: Punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and place them on a baking sheet.
- Second rise: Cover the shaped buns with a cloth again and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven: While the buns are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake: Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle a bit of salt if desired. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Cool: Allow the buns to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For best texture, ensure liquids are warm, not hot, when combining with yeast. Add herbs or seeds for creative twists.
